"After Fidel" was written by a former CIA agent, reading as a personal account to his time on the case of Castro. It is an easy read, not bogged down with raw data. It offers the reader an interesting look at how Fidel and his siblings were raised, suggesting which particular parts of his character are more attributed to nurture versus nature. If you are looking for a "start to near-finish" about Fidel and "his Cuba", it is a great book for getting your feet wet.

Not truly historical fiction, but a really fun reimagining of Helen of Troy as a young woman. I like her...she's feisty. And there's a sequel, so yay!

Damn! Magic definitely must be involved, when Maria V. Snyder can make the process of making glass interesting! This is great fantasy and I only have one qualm: I could not really decide if it was prehistoric time - old time or newer time. Some furniture descriptions messed it up in my head. So what is it supossed to be? I still wonder about that. I liked the characters and was completely enraptured by the book. I could hardly put it down in order to get some sleep. There are many pages but I was amazed as to how much could happen in the amount of pages used for this book. Opal and me went through so much together that it seems impossible! I certainly longed for the sequel when I was done consuming this book. Too bad I did not buy the whole series while I was in London. If you like fantasy - even if you do not - then I think you should give this series a shot. (note: it is a "spin-off" series off Snyder's other fantasy series, "The Study"-series. The first book in the series being: Poison Study) SECOND NOTE TO THE FIRST NOTE I read this book before I read Poison Study, so it is manageable to start with the Glass-series. - You will just go back in the timeline if you start with this book. So really it is your choice.

Well I just couldn't stick it out with these books. I had a total different expectation of these books then what they are. There is just very little forward movement and so many details to learn and lots of names to memorize! Geez, some of the people have three or four names and there is three different languages they could be talking in. There is also many different view points that the story is written in. I like that you know what everyone is thinking but the change is so quick, you have to really be alert to the changes because there is little to show you that the speaker or the mind you are hearing is changing. A little more complex then I was expecting. These are defanantley adult books, which I wasn't expecting either. I am familiar with Smith's young adult work and love it. I just didn't know these were not young adult and the writing not what I expected.

It has a really cute love story. It's about a girl named Auden who is really smart and likes to acheive. She's always been obsessed with achieving and has not spent enough time just being a kid. It is the summer before she goes off to college and she's going to spend it studying. She then decides to go to her Dad's house with his wife and new baby. Her summer plans change when she makes friends and meets quite, intresting Eli. It's a good read and well worth yout time! :)

I read this ages ago but I remember enjoying it. It looks at how a group of students from MIT are able to figure out how to win big at the casinos. It is cool b/c it is a true story.
