I cannot clearly write a review about this book because I am not sure how I feel about it. The book was fast-paced and never slowed. I kept wondering how the heroine was still alive and moving. I am still wondering, actually. Dru is an interesting character, and I did not identify with her at all, which is rare. I found myself wanting to smack her a lot, because she was pretty dumb. But, she acted like the teenager she is, so Saintcrow gets credit from me. I hate ya heroines that act like they are 30+ and experienced. Saintcrow had a fabulous new take on some of the myths of vampires and werewolves, I loved that part of the book. I am interested to see what happens next in the series because of where it left off. Overall, a fairly good book I just wish it had been paced slower.

Wow. It's a hard read but a good one. Edited to add: Okay, upon thinking about this further, I feel like a more honest review of this book is that it's not as clever as it strives to be, but that it still fails into an amazing book.

I heard this guy talking about his book on NPR the other day and for many reasons: 1. He's a gay man living in the South 2. The book is about a call girl in the South who lives in a small town which nobody in town knows about her "Lifestyle" and 3. I had just finished "The Help" and was intrigued with the southern-woman genre. Well, I liked this book, but "The Help" was better. I would've liked it better if I hadn't just finished that one about a week or two ago.

This book was really hard to get into at first...but after the first 80 or so pages I really started liking it. I'm glad that I read her memoir first and learned that this book was based on her present husband's life. I don't think I would have liked it as much had I thought this book was pure fiction. I also love her writing style, and I loved the end. I love books that come full circle. This book was definitely a book you COULD put down, but I'm glad I stuck with it.
