Mostly predictable---a few surprises on how a "bad" dog can still do good things .... but it is a good read for dog lovers which will make you laugh one moment and cry the next.

i read this book far to late in my college career. my father gave it to me when i went off to college and i really should have read it as a freshman. i wouldn't have understood it but i still should have read it. as a senior it makes more sense and has been useful for keeping my writing plans on track.

I really wanted to like this book more than I did. I do not understand why this book is viewed as a classic. The opening was lazy; the ending even worse. I suppose the plot was adequate (although the needlessly detailed descriptions of everything were somewhat distracting). At no point did the book really make me think; it was very consumable and disposable, similar to a standard action movie.

i thought the kite runner would be some really boring, political book about afghanistan. i don't even bother to read the back cover and find out what it's about since the front cover was really boring. but then, as time passes, this book kept appearing in my life; on my former school library and people reading it on trains and buses. the deciding moment for me to give this book a try was when someone i really like recommended this book. it was amazing. tears were falling from my face, and i wasn't even a quarter through the book that time! i found myself deeply relating to amir, the narrator of this book. for example, when that cruel act was done towards hassan, and amir did what he did, i understood exactly why. it pains me to admit this, but most probably i would've done the same thing amir did. and that realization left me feeling very unsettled. most of the twists was really unexpected, and i love that. makes me all the more excited. oh and i realized how some people used islam to getting their way, making up fatwas and rules. it infuriates me, and i know these people will always exist but i will never stop hoping one day they won't. 5 stars. no doubt. i would've done a longer and more detailed review but my favorite tv show is on. oh and my new favorite phrase is now: for you, a thousand times over.

Fun story with neat characters. Definitely a pageturner! There was more profanity used by the characters then I normally read in YA, If that bothers you then you may want to check this book out at a library before deciding to buy it, but overall a very entertaining book with lots of potential. I finished it and immediately wanted the next book.
