The 4 stars is probably my fault. I'm thick, and some of the later poems I just did not connect with. Ali is a brilliant poet, and these poems of diaspora, of longing and rage over what is unjustly lost--his home in Kashmir--resonate with an exquisitely wrought pain. Certain stanzas nearly brought me to my knees, and I read them over and over. These poems bring to mind Darwish's UNFORTUNATELY IT WAS PARADISE--and he does tip his cap to Darwish in his poems--but with more of an edge, more of a trembling. Ali was lost too soon. Too soon.

A short read that is packed with goodness. Red this for my English class, well, if anything this book reminds me to never give up despite the unfavorable circumstances that I might face in life. What intrigued me most about the book is how Hemingway was able to set the tone of the book in terms of diction and alliteration to be parallel to the event happening on the book. Like, when the sea is calm the "s" alliteration and etc. Anyhow, if you haven't read it, read it because 1) it won't take that much of your time 2) it's worth it

A nice glimpse into a culture that I almost knew -- I lived around the edges and used to go to Brick Lane to get bagels, before they became internationally available. I saw the community, but never guessed how isolated it could be within the city.
T his book is very entertainig and it is very cool!

I loved the world. This was a great amalgamation of the zombie apocalypse and a steampunk world. I think both can't be pushed too hard for a story to work. Priest seamlessly integrated both elements and it had some masterful story telling. I think the start was a bit slow, but this was a very good read.

A little too predictable; a little too sappy. The author uses the word "that" as if it's the "like" of the valley girl 80's - ugh. This would be the equivalent of a movie you know isn't worth seeing in the theater, but you wouldn't mind paying $1 out of the RedBox when you're in the mood for fluff. In other words, borrow it from a friend, buy it used, or get it from the library - don't waste your money.

The best book in the entire series. It's an action-packed novel that will keep you hooked 'till the end. You see Harry mature through all 7 books, but in this one he really steps up to the plate and takes responsibility for his actions and really becomes a man.

What I realize is kind of interesting about this series, as well as the other Jane Austen mystery series, is that you get a woman solving mysteries. And then they become domestic mysteries. It's interesting to see a woman in Jane's time period try to solve mysteries, because it requires a lot of moving around, which is difficult for women to do. I think Barron does a nice job of channeling Jane, although, she basically seems pretty much like Elizabeth Darcy. Maybe she was.
