Outstanding. Meticulous examination of the Franklin - Eleanor relationship, the FDR-Churchill dynamics, life in DC and in the White House during this time, and a thread that highlights changes in US attitudes and social mores during (and because of) the war. I have yet to find a book that does a good job of depicting the Home Front as it was for 'normal' people in the US...like my mother and her sisters...while so many of the boys were off to war. That is the book I'd love to read.

Borrowed from a friend and read on vacation. Compelling after a fashion, though not well-written, I finished it in a matter of hours. Will probably have to read the rest of the series out of pure compulsiveness, but found it to be the literary equivalent of capuccino foam - without the coffee (read: substance) underneath, it is only mildly enjoyable and seems borderline pointless. The only part of it that I found somewhat interesting was Meyer's tweaking of the traditional vampire mythology because I'm sort of a geek about that stuff, mostly from being a fan of the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" TV series. Saw the movie "Twilight" and don't get the hype. The soundtrack is good, though.

*3.5 stars* This was a very enjoyable book with a sweet love story and hot sex. I liked both Adam and Christy. But his brother, her best friend, annoyed me! He was an incredibly selfish guy and it really bothered me that he put his own desires above his brother and friend's when he saw that his subterfuge was interfering with their lives. Conflict erupted at the end in the form of a misunderstanding and name calling, and resolved too quickly, but that can be forgiven.

Reading a Jeaniene Frost book is always a little like coming home to my best friend. Well...perhaps a steamy best friend with benefits. I know before I get there that I'll like it and it will make me laugh (out loud) in places. The characters will be sexy, smart-ass, and full of awesomeness. I'd hit a bit of a book slump lately--which typically happens to me when I read a bunch of books in a short period of time (they all start to blend together)--and First Drop of Crimson was exactly what I needed to boost me out of it. I've been a big fan of Frost's Night Huntress books, but for some reason it took me a while to pick up one of the spin-off novels. Now, I can't wait to get my hands on Mencheres' story in Eternal Kiss of Darkness.

friday night lights by h.g. bissinger is the story of a small town in texas where football is pretty much life. if your on the parmeiain panthers football team you got it all the fame the glory the girls and anything else you want. But this book isnt only about footbal like i thought it would be it really went in depth into the lives of the players as they try and win a state championship and try and live up to the legacy of past teams. I really liked in this book how the author went into everyone's point of you but i wouldve still liked a little more football. I would recomend this book to sports fans or people who have an intrest in the affects of sports on society.
