I thought it was engaging - but I wasn't too happy with all of the descriptions on what happens when someone comes into contact with a live wire! Actually - I listened to it on tape and was happy to fast forward through some of those descriptions! And - not to be confused with Live Wire by Harlan Coben!!!

I really enjoyed this book. Her anecdotes and research are very well done and some of the most involving parts of the book are the sections when her life becomes truly difficult due to her decision to not purchase! Controversy: Luckily, she has a flexible enough life/career that she can afford to be organic, or 'natural' or whatnot, and despite touching upon that theme as a problem in her life, no real changes or conclusions are drawn... so far.

The book was a very enjoyable read. It was not so long that it was painfull dragged out, but it did not leave any loose ends either. It was also a nice change of pace to see Holmes taking a backseat for most of the book. Watson manages to solve the case nearly on his own, and it is only the final pieces that Holmes is there to assist on. The book managed to stay unpredictable from start to finish, and that made it much more entertaining and more engrossing than any of the other books

One of the most progressive writers of 20th. century with a wonderful revolutionary look on human and history.

A well-written story, to be sure. Her story is compelling, not overly dramatic, and filled with optimism despite dramatically "bad" circumstances. I'd be interested to meet the author to see her mannerisms and to see if her writing voice is the same as the way she interacts with people beyond the page. Maybe that's just me getting into her psyche too much, but I'm so curious as to how she can appear so "normal" on the page when living through such a challenging and unstable childhood. Of course I'm not suggesting it isn't possible, but maybe this is my subtle way of saying that I want to sit down for coffee with her and a few close friends just to hear more...

I love the Amelia Peabody books, and I enjoyed this one, but was a bit disconcerted at first because the copyright date made me think it new and continuing, when in reality, it was new, but set in their past. It was a good story, but I had been looking forward to the continuing saga.

While the book states that scientology is not a religion, it sure seems like one. I gave up on reading this book after about two chapters because it did not make sense to me. Also, the writing style is very repetitive, almost to the point of attempted brainwashing. I know some people think Scientology is a crazy religion, with crazy practices...but is it really any different than any other organized religion? As a book, "Scientology" is cyclical and repetitive, but I think that's the point. As an idea, it's not my style, but if it works for others - great.

This book has a good premise, ruined by excessive teenage ooey gooey love crap, (aka Twilight influence). Ooh, his chest is so strong, and my heart is so poundy. I want to kiss him again, but a dog just bit me. Ooh, but look at his autumn leaf colored hair! I ended up skipping entire paragraphs just to get to plot points. I'm disappointed, since there was a lot of potential with the topic. I guess, if you like romances, go for it. If you prefer good sci-fi/speculative fiction, stay away. Twilight fans, yes; Hunger Games fans, no.
