I really didn't know much at all about the attempt to form the independent nation of Biafra in the 1960's. I remember the pictures of the starving children from the time, but did not understand what was going on politically in Nigeria. Because of this, I found the book extemely interesting, especially with all the parallels with current events in Africa and the Middle East. The struggle was heart wrenching because you could see what the outcome was going to be. I was utterly frustrated by the lack of support from the world for this struggle. That being said, for some reason I could not get totally involved with the characters in this novel. Because of this distance, I wasn't as emotionally involved as I thought I should have been. I'm glad I read the book but wish I had been more strongly impacted.

I absolutely love this series! It mixes all of my favorite things (vampires, werewolves, demons and kick-ass chics!) and still makes me feel like I can sympathize with the characters. I can't wait for the next installment!

I was so enthralled with the book Sisters, I could not wait to read tis one when it cam out. It was interesting and she has lead a fascinating life, however, at times I found it more of name dropping that fun antidotes of her life without her family. It is a fun read continuing the saga of an amazing family. worth the time, but a little lengthy in places.

Look. This is a book about books. It's SUPPOSED to be about books geared towards or appropriate for teens. Here's what I liked about it: After six months of scouring reviews and reading professional literature and teen review sites, as well as looking at what other libraries had in their nonfiction sections, I had heard about/read about many of the books mentioned here. The annotations explain what the book is about. Here's what I didn't like: Some of these books are NOT something I would give to a teen. They're too short. They're geared towards a younger audience. Page numbers are not included in the citation, and for this audience, I'd rather they were. Our teen nonfiction collection is based on the idea of reading nonfiction for pleasure, as well as fulfilling running reading assignments. I do think that this is a good place to start if you're looking for basic information on beginning a nonfiction teen collection.
