Kudos to anyone who can saw his own arm off with a cheap leatherman-like tool! Aron Ralston is surprisingly intelligent, and his book was well-written. I could've lived without all the mountain-climbing flashbacks, although they did serve the purpose of letting the reader know that the author was an expeienced mountaineer. The moral--It's not about what you do, it's about who you are.

the book began on a good note. it was inspirational and very motivating reading about the poor of bangladesh and how yunus's program enabled them to rise out of poverty. but later on, it became kind of technical when he began explaining all the facets of the micro-lending program. i would prefer a book just about the stories!

Read it in one sitting without cheating and reading the last chapter before I got to the end of the book.

An interesting glimpse into Florentine history but found I could not connect with any of the characters.

So far, her prose is poetic at times. On page 120 - her father has been taken away, hoping for his return. Lovesick.

Really helpful while registering and picking out big ticket items. I highly recommend getting the most current edition of this book. My sister has the previous edition that she bought when she was pregnant with her daughter last year. We've already found several things in her edition that were recommended, but in my edition they say to skip or question their safety (wipe warmers, for example). My husband and I would have been lost in the aisles of Babies R Us if not for this book!

In the future, the Colonization Defense Force needs soldiers to defend space colonies against hostile alien life. They recruit from earth, asking men and women to sign up to be a soldier on their 65th birthday, then actually going into service on their 75th birthday. John Perry takes the opportunity and heads off to space, where he has various and sundry adventures with his group of friends (the Old Farts) and giant bug aliens. I enjoyed this book, and I'm looking forward to the next one.

2.5 stars, rounding up. This was fun, in a campy silly kind of way. I don't know if it's just been a while since season one so I'm comparing the characters to later editions of themselves but everyone seems a bit... less. I also don't remember Sookie being quite so virginal on the show, but like I said, I'm probably just thinking of more recent seasons. Seriously though - what is the big appeal of virginal girl-women + bossy centenarian undead boyfriends? This is a weird trend kids. Perfect for audiobook, although slightly embarrasing to have on in the kitchen during all the heavy petting. It kind of sucked (ha) that I knew who the killer was from having watched the show, but it was interesting to get another angle on the characters. I missed Tara and Lafayette though - come on! More Lafayette please. And more Eric. Maybe next time...
