this book was so crazy.i would like to think no one has multiple personalities as the girl in the book. some of the scenes in the book were so disgusting. it was almost hard to read it was so much killing.i had to stop and think what kind of person is the author to write such a story.

Oh. This was sort of like having a quasi intellectual conversation with a superficial art director/ commercial television director in Toronto. (Speaking from experience.) It was wanting so much to be informed, to come across as a plunging foray into quirky poignant vignettes of life, but it grasped at all the strangest straws and references to appear interesting. Sorry Neil Smith, I am sure you are good guy! I didn't get it, tried a few of the short stories, but couldn't see them through. Like that indie film everyone recommends but that only speaks to a tiny group of society, and you wonder how everyone else can really be enjoying it, but you feel they all are aren't they, so you should try to, but don't get it. And because what was cool about it remained a mystery to you, but the rest of it was shite overall, you only remember the latter. :)

Living better on less is the theme of a cute, small yet comprehensive book called “Be Thrifty* not Cheap” edited by Pia Catton and Califia Suntree (nice name!) (Workman). In it, the pair cover a lot of ground – from stretching your food budget to D.I.Y. household repairs – all the while, stressing ways to be smart rather than stressed. Their advice, from bulk calculations, to negotiating skills (look them in the eye and be nice) to even philosophical quotes from Cicero and Socrates, all serve to make their point in an informative and enjoyable read. The basics? Buy well, quality over quantity and keep things working a long time; think of saving as new found income. They even give you a real penny to get started!
