Most enjoyable about this book would be the perspective of the story being told changing about every chapter. When first person takes over you get everything spelled with the character's accent. On my first read, there was a lot of re-reading to figure out what the hell was being said. It's all in english but will need the "Scottish Slang Appendix" found in some publications. If you've seen the movie, you should love this book as well. A stylish look into the depraved and desperate world of heroin addiction paralleled with youthful experience and optimism. Readers who had first seen the movie prior to reading the book (as I had) will also be treated to many more characters and see which became composites of several personalities.

I really enjoyed this book. It basically tells you exactly where your food is coming from, and how that is different from where our food came from 50 years ago, 100 years ago, etc. And it also describes some of the environmental ramifications of the modern food industry. It definitely made me think a lot about what I eat, and especially where I shop. I have some changes to make.

Won this one via firstreads; I never would have bought and read this book otherwise. But it had a cute story line using a baking contest to reconnect two estranged sisters as they must work together in order to be successful. I noticed lots of grammatical errors especially toward the end of the book, but it was an advanced readers copy… Overall a fun, light read.

I LOVED this book. I really enjoy time period books and I really like to read about,for some reason, WWII. It mentions Dachau, Gabe and I have been there and seen that, and I may have felt a little closer to it because of that too. I enjoyed the narration, although I had to go back and reread at first to make sure I had that right. It was a different idea, but it worked for me!

This book popped into my head after I finished Octavia Butler's Xenogenesis series, not sure why, but I was sick and so started reading it again. I've been a crazy re-reader this year. 5th read: 5/15/16 4th Read: 3/30/15 3rd Read: 3/24/14 2nd Read: 5/9/13 Original Read: 4/18/12 Original Review: I am so excited that she named the main character after my 10 month old daughter Avery. Ok...that's probably not what happened. Another good book by Maria Snyder, though it's most likely that nothing will ever compare in my mind to Poison Study. I thought it a bit better than the 2nd two Study books and the Glass Series. But that could be in part because I found the world a bit more exciting. (I think I liked the Ixia part of the study books more than the Sitia part). I have no patience, I would like to read the rest of this series now please. :)
