Cardosonot Antonio cardosonota226 — I keep thinking that if I just paid closer attention, I'd get a lot more out of "Knowing God." It's not as if Packer uses a lot of big words. But "Knowing God" is maybe a little too theological for me. Books that are more or less of this genre that seem to be more effective for me include C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity" and Charles Colson's "Loving God." But there is much to appreciate about "Knowing God." Packer relentlessly leads us to an understanding of the God revealed in the Bible, as opposed to the mixture of Santa Claus and kindly uncle that seems to be the picture of God in the popular imagination. "The wrath of God" isn't talked about much today, but the Bible talks about it, and so does Packer. And he has inspired me to have what my friend Paul Meiburger calls a DAWG -- Day Alone With God -- and spend time in at least three specific parts of the Bible: 1) Psalm 18 2) The Book of Mark 3) The Letter to the Romans
