This book is marketed as "fiction/literature" but it is really a murder mystery in disguise. Told from the daughter's point of view, you meet many characters who might have wanted to kill her mother - an abortionist drowned in her own swimming pool. Along the way, the daughter confronts her own feelings about what her mother did for a living. Those looking for something other than a standard investigational mystery will enjoy the journey.

Dazzle is an oddball but highly addictive series. It follows the adventures of Rahzel, a teenage sorceress who's been sent on a sort of training journey by her father, and the companions she picks up along the way. There are several things that make Dazzle stand out from the crowd of fantasy manga. It has a uniquely bizarre sense of humor, and an unusual visual style to match. (The artwork in this first volume is a little rough, but give it time.) Rahzel herself is perhaps the manga's greatest strong point. She's tough, outspoken, and never afraid to be herself. Rahzel's greatest goal in life is to be strong; in a genre cluttered with wimpy girls whose lives revolve around guys, she definitely stands out. Everything about her, from her clothes to her reactions screams individuality. Her two traveling companions could have easily fallen into the shojo cliches of the stoic type and the playboy, but they both have enough unexpected quirks to make them human. The plot of can sometimes seem rather random and hard to follow, but there is still a lot of the backstory that is slowly being revealed.

I'd wanted to read this book since I was turned on by the cover when I saw it as a child. haha. The book doesn't dissapoint in fun facts and page turning shockers... but, I will say that he should've had more help writing it because he repeats himself and commends himself constantly.

After seeing this book in numerous discussion boards, I decided I had to read it! I wasn't disappointed! I was hooked the first chapter. I am a sucker for an underdog and Will is an underdog from the very beginning being orphaned and taken to the castle to be raised in an orphanage(of sorts). He is chosen to become the Rangers apprentice. The training and adventures he undergoes gives him the confidence he needs to become a ranger. This book seems to be setting up for the rest of the books in the series.
