This is fast-paced book that was hard to put down. Near the end I did skip some pages because there were ... activities that I'd rather not read about. On the whole a good book although is seemed to be primarily back story.

I forgot that I preorder this book and it came as a pleasant surprise when I got it in the mail when I got home from school one day. As it is the second book in the series, you have to read the first to understand this one. Once I started, I barely could put it down and by the end, I was in desperate need of the next one (that was coming out in year at the time). The story got more intense and interesting. The relationship between characters develop more and it just sucked you in. What the characters have to go through while on the run is realistic with a touch of supernatural. I fell in love with this series by the end of the book and couldn’t wait for the next one to come out, because just like the last book, it ended in a cliffhanger. No serious romance had develop at the end, but you could see the hint of one. Unlike most YA books, romance is the subplot in the series, which is what I like best. I highly recommend this book, but read the first book first! Oh, it’s also worth your money to buy them in hardback, at least for me it was.

Another book about the journey... the first time I read this I thought it was written for a 5th grader and wasn't very interesting. The second time I read it was when I was in Italy and very very alone, and it meant so much more. I read only a few pages at a time to really understand and read between the lines... and it didn't hurt that I was also in the midst of a break up and needed to believe that if you truely love something and let it go, it will return if it truely loves you too.

continues the Shadow children series with strong themes of identity. There is a thicker comparison to the holocaust in this book and gets a little more intriguing but didn't feel cliche.

this book is an amazing look into the minds of its characters. it will really make u think about what makes people tick. i loved the loyalty and love between eli and oskar..rare. on the other hand, u have to wonder if eli relly loves oskar or if its more a choice for her about survival...and is eli really a girl...no...i dont think so....and is he/she really a vampire? i like to think that eli is a demon actually.u will be happy with the ending but left wondering what happens to eli and oskar...and if oskar at some point becomes like eli.

I highly recommend this book to young and old alike. It is a delightful and insightful children's book that will leave you with a feeling of gossamer which is hard to explain...you just have to read it. Though a fantastical perspective on dreaming, it has enough real elements to capture the fascination of multiple kinds of readers.
