As much as I did enjoy the way that The Memory Keeper's Daughter was written (it was pure poetry, people)... The storyline got a little too convoluted and then gave out about 100 pages before the end of the book. Knowing that Kim Edwards had been a short story writer before she was a novel writer (and knowing that she is... well, lyrical... oh, how I love the language she uses), I had to pick this up the other day. I haven't started it yet, but it's sitting on my kitchen table. And it's calling to me.

A thrilling conclusion to the Larklight trilogy. All bets are off as Philip Reeve builds suspense chapter after chapter.

I read this for a book club and forced myself to finish it. It was way too long and drawn out... still, I stayed with it until the end. I have no plans to read another Gregory book, though! Historical fiction is just not my thing..

I had a hard time getting into this book. I usually speed read, and you can't do that with this book. I got about 40 pages in and had no clue what was going on. There are alot of characters introduced really fast. Once I started over and took it slower it was a great book!

Probably 3.5 stars... At first this was dire. I was interested in Adam's character from the beginning of The Highlander Series because of his all too brief cameo in Shadowfever. For me getting through these books has been about seeing the evolution of Adam Black. I didn't care for the Adam/Gabrielle romance. Not at all. It should have been funnier. (Guess I'll always be a Drustan/Gwen shipper). But the insight into where Moning's fae lore started developing into The Fever Series was quite exciting. This book was kind of what I had been expecting from the entire Highlander Series. Equal parts romance and lore. Where the other books have been a lot heavier on the romance - this one seemed to pay attention to both. I was quite annoyed with Adam's "mortal" transformation both times but for very different reasons. The first because it seemed very contrived to just plonk Adam in the body of his favoured Blacksmith glamour and the second because I really wanted him to stay immortal. Um... spoiler? More than give me background info on the Seelie and Unseelie realms this book seemed to confuse me a little in regards to timeline. Obviously I am to take The Fever Series as being set in the same world as The Highlander Series because of character crossovers but when exactly does Aobiheal go missing? How come the Unseelie King doesn't recognise her? And other pressing questions that I cannot think of right now? All this tells me is that I MUST go back and visit Mac, Jericho and the gang as soon as possible. While I had planned a re-read for the summer time I think now is as good a time as any to get my fever back on. Spell of the Highlander can wait. Are these books worth it just for the tiny Fever glimpses? It depends. If you like bodice-ripping/kilt-lifting (thanks Ciaran) romance then sure... have at it. If you're expecting Fever level awesome stay well clear lest these books tarnish your Moning idolisation.

This was an interesting book. You didn't know who the bad person was until close to the end of the book. I am looking forward to reading the sequel.

This is one of my favorite books. Some people said that it did not hold their interest long enough, but that's not the case with me. This book was so intriguing for me. The second half of the book kept me turning and turning the pages until the end. Of course I knew what would happen, since I saw the movie before. The main character, 17-year-old Ronnie Miller, became rebellious and extremely angry when her dad left her family. She blamed everything on him and she absolutely hated him. When Ronnie and her brother Jonah visit their father for the summer, Ronnie slowly matures and evolves into a loving, mature girl who sees the world from a different perspective. It is so beautiful to see how she goes from a rebellious teenager full of hate into a loving person who doesn't take anything for granted. Ronnie also falls in love with a local Southern boy, Will Blakelee. I have to admit, Ronnie's constant mood swings in the movie was very annoying (get mad at him, fall back in love, get mad, etc etc), but it was different in the book. There were a lot of different things in the book and the movie. The story seems so real, as if I know all of the characters personally. Sparks' intimate writing just makes you want to reach out and hug Ronnie, Will, Jonah, and Steve simultaneously! D: The beach setting was also so beautiful. This book is very very emotional and made me cry at some points. It is full of so many different emotions and feelings, but most of all it is packed full of LOVE. Beautiful book ;~;
