Short answer: it's a (fictional) poem with (fictional) annotation, in which the annotator attempts to sneak his life story (which may or may not be credible) into the line-by-line notes. More than that: he desperately tries to read the poem as a tribute to himself and his travails, when in fact the poem (seems to) bear little or no relation to him whatsoever. On top of this, he wouldn't even be putting out this "critical edition" of the poem had he not absconded with the manuscript after the untimely and unnatural demise of the poet. Creepy, very funny, witty, and full of weird Nabokov-isms.

3 1/2 stars. Very funny sometimes sad. I little slow in the middle, but it picked up at the end. Too much bashing of stay at home mom's, but I think all mom's can relate to Kate's struggle.
