Ye Dua Et Sev - Elizabeth Gilbert TrendKitaplar Kütüphanesi

There has been a lot of buzz about this book in many book blogs. I, personally, initially became interested in this book because of the cover. I don't judge books by the cover, but come on! It's gorgeous, right? My interest only grew when I learned about the 7 tests included. How excited was I to read this book? Super excited. I wasn't sure what I was expecting, but I was imagining something like how the main character would go through the 7 tests, trying to finish each one, sort of like an adventure. The book wasn't like that though. The tests are mentioned but you don't know what they are, which I found a little off. The story actually focused more on who was trying to kill Kate to prevent her from becoming a goddess. So most of the time, all Kate did was hang out in the humongous manor, being treated like a princess. I hate to say that I didn't like it just because it wasn't what I was expecting, because it had been my fault for imagining it to be the kind of story I wanted it to be. I did enjoy it. I'm not a huge fan of Greek mythology and have read some good books on it, but this book was somewhat different than the rest. In a good way. I really felt sorry for Kate. I can't even imagine what it'd feel like to have someone close to you be sick, and you have to watch them go through it. I felt that Kate was pretty strong, making the decision to go through the tests for her mother and giving up her freedom. That has to be pretty depressing. Ava wasn't one of my favorites but she's not a total bitch. You eventually get to see what she's really like. Henry, our Hades, was so...formal. I'm not really into guys like that. Yeah, I felt bad for him because of his lonely life, but there wasn't anything about him that made me like him the way Kate did. I did like James A LOT. He was funny, caring, and an all-around good friend. It's guys like him that I like. There wasn't enough of him in the book though, but I'm hoping he is in future books! There were a few things I didn't like about this book. The romance was limited and while some parts were pretty hot, it felt like the only reason Kate liked Henry was because he's lonely, like her. I was also expecting the 7 tests to be something bigger. And I was a little mad at something revealed in the end. But the ending was pretty shocking though. I thought I had something figured out, and instead was smacked with the truth. Wow. I have to say, I was reminded of 'Wither' quite a lot, but I like The Goddess Test much more. I'm only hoping the next book, 'Goddess Interrupted', is better.
