It's hard to believe that bullying like this actually goes on! I was lucky/naive enough to never be bullied or be the bully (I hope). This is a really enlightening book if you work with kids or have kids.

Going through her daily activities have become a chore for Abbey but when she meets a mysteriously good looking boy at Kristen's funeral things start to perk up for Abbey. Caspian Crane is as mysterious as they come. Showing up at Kristen and Abbey's favorite spot one day and surprising Abbey she becomes to feel strangely comfortable around him. The only person who has made her feel even close to normal since Kristen's death but he also makes her feel special and loved. But as Abbey and Caspian start to spend more time together the sense of normal that she started to feel becomes tangled as more and more secrets about Kristen's life start to be revealed. Abbey doesn't understand why her best friend would keep secrets from her and she struggles to come to grips with the fact that she might not have known her best friend as well as she thought she did. But when she finds out that Caspian is keeping secrets from her as well it nearly sends her over the edge. An amazing read of loss, love and renewal of life. I really enjoyed The Hollow. Definitely a page turner. Once you pick this book up you will not be able to put it down until it is finished. I had no problems connecting with any of the characters or the story. I absolutely devoured this book and I highly recommend this book to any one who loves YA. If you are a fan of L.J Smith then you will enjoy Jessica Verday.

This is my first Brad Meltzer book. I've actually been looking for it ever since I read an excerpt of it online somewhere and when I saw this at my local bookstore, I didn't think twice and just grabbed it. A mistake actually - I should have at least read the online reviews. The story started off pretty normal, two lawyers in love and married, hubby is a hotshot defense attorney, wifey is the new ADA. The first few chapters were pretty interesting. Then it reached a plateau for the next 8-10 chapters before eventually spiraling downwards. Wifey started off as likeable but after a few chapters and introduced to the antagonist, she starts getting all whiney and irritating, at times even downright bitchy. Same goes with hubby - too spineless and confused. I usually like at least one of the main characters but with this one, I can't seem to identify or even sympathise with either. The plot is all over the place and there are times when I can't make heads or tails of it. Almost all of the side characters are made out to be the anatagonists. I suspect that's the author's way of keeping his readers in suspense but what irks me the most is after all those long-winded dialogues & cheesy cliches, there's almost no surprises. The characterization was weak and inconsistent - it's a case of too many suspects, too little time. However, I'm not giving up on this author. I've read reviews of some of his other books and they seemed encouraging. I might pick up another book of his but it may be a while.

I'm a big fan of Suze Orman so when I knew it was time for me to get a hold of my finances, this was a great place to turn. I knew a lot of the things that Suze talked about but needed it to be all in one place. Of course I knew I needed to save money and pay down debt, but I didn't know how to prioritize - this book did that. It was a good, easy to read and very fast to get through.
