Ok I knew I would love this book even before I read it. The whole plot enthralled me, bound to be with one wanting to be with another, kinda like a really psychotic twisted version of Rome and Juliet (only without all the dying.) I completely IN LOVE with this series. SPOILERS ALERT!!!!!!!!!!! CHARACTERS: There was only one problem for me with it. I FELL IN LOVE WITH THE WRONG CHARACTER. And just who did I fall in love with? Why I fell in love with Logan of course! He's so smexy!!!!!! Lol jk he's actually gay so I'm outta luck there. I fell in love with Ren completely. Unlike Shay who just reminds me of a nosy little kid (take that Shay :b) Ren strikes me as a sincere, protective, cocky, and totally HOT boy who will do anything to keep Calla happy. I mean seriously isn't having a boyfriend who would literally rip a boys throat out for looking at you so romantic! Is that just me? Calla seems to be like all other novels a girl who owns two boys hearts and doesn't know which one to keep. Like all novels she takes advantage of the one really devoted to her, and who she's known FOREVER and throws it away because she suddenly sees a stranger and feels a connection. I mean seriously, if you just happen to feel a special connection with someone who you haven't met, don't know anything about, and who seems fairly interested in you I suggest you have some serious problems if you choose him over a boy you knew forever and would die for you!!! Calla has must be wrong in the head. The love triangle is very well structured giving the person reading a choice of who they like while still feeling sympathy for both. PLOT: The plot was amazing, Cremer has taken the overly used werewolf cliche and put a spin on it. It's not just a helpless girl who finds her self in alignment with a powerful werewolf that wants to posses her. No no this girls A FRIGGIN WEREWOLF TOO! TAKE THAT OVER USED STORIES!! THIS GIRL'S GOT SOME NINJA SKILLS! Not to mention that she puts Shay in the position of the helpless little girl. (lol poor Shay's so clueless! haha!) Though later in the novel they change that it was still fun while it lasted. The whole Scion thing really gets the novel rocking, having the boy actually be the center of a prophecy instead of the main character, it puts a story like this into a whole different perspective highlighting what other stories hadn't considered. What Calla the almighty werewolf left behind to help the Scion, the danger she put herself in, the realization that this isn't just about the Scion but about her and all she decided to throw away to protect him. In all I love the unexpected twists and turns, and I know this is an overly used metaphor for books but this book is a roller coaster. And I loved every hill and corkscrew. END: The end made me mad. Particularly because she chose Shay over Ren sending me into enrage, which later evoked wrath, which resulted in me throwing the book at my window, which resulted in the window cracking, which lead to me going into a fit of sobs, and now I just need a hug :'( Personally I wouldn't of made Calla's chose for choosing Shey, I understand she though she was going to kill him and of course I wouldn't kill him, but I sure as heck wouldn't run away with him!! Ren was amazing, so amazing he let her go AND SHE JUST STEPPED ALL OVER HIM. Like Ren gave her a ring which in whole resembles that he is not only protective and smexy but also sweet sensitive and completely in love with her and she just ran away! I'm disappointed in you Calla and to think I thought you were a ninja The last chapter really puts the reader on edge to see what happens. Nightshade is now one of my favorite series. A much deserved five stars.

It was refreshing to read Addie's story. Too many protagonist her age seem.... I don't know unlikable, but Addie is different. First of all I should say that I liked Addie to pieces. I could only wish I could have been good of a kid as she is. Addie always seem to be walking on eggshells (even though she doesn't know it at first). Her mom (which she calls Mommers) is an all or nothing person, which bring the both of them lots of problems. At the beginning of the book we see her and her mom moving into a small trailer that her stepfather (Dwight) is letting them live in. Before all this happened she use to live in a house with her mom, Dwight (who she really sees as her father since her biological father died when she was small)and her half-sisters Brynna and Katie. Of course though, mistakes that her mother made changed all that. I was surprised by how resilient Addie is and how much support she has from the adults around her when her mother can't be there for her. I can only hope that other kids in her situation have adults that care about them as much Addie is cared about. She has Dwight, Grandio (her grandfather from her biological father's side), Soula, Elliot, Rick, and Helen to help her grow through both the physical and emotional changes she has to deal with. As the story progresses we come to learn that Addie has dyslexia, and I applaud her and how she deals with it. I was glad to see a main character that wasn't automatically brilliant but had to work hard for what she gets. The author did an excellent job of having you believe that Addie was a real 12 year old girl with these problems, and help you sympathize with what she is feeling. I don't want to give the whole plot away but suffice to say that Addie does find her normal in the end.
