I really enjoyed viewing the photographs in this book, they were quite vivid, amazing, and I immediately fell in love with all those wonderfully cute animals. However, this is a warning to fellow animal lovers who happen to also be non-vegetarians (meat eaters). Don't read the stories because you may just quickly find yourself feeling guilty for eating meat, and learning about the horrid conditions these sweet animals must endure in their short lives. I've decided not to completely rate this because although the pictures were visually stunning, I couldn't bring myself to actually read the stories to give it a complete and fair review.

This book is about finding inner beauty and proving that looks aren’t everything. Kyle Kingsbury is the perfect guy, but only on the outside. He has never done anything nice in his life because his very vain. He is turned into a beast and he must feel the rejection of being judged on how he looks from within as well as outwardly. It has a nice rhythm and good hummer too.
This is a much darker story of Roy Hobbs than the theatrical adaptation. If you have to choose between the two I would opt for the movie. There are some similarities however the book is much more complicated and entrenched in the hardships of life. The movie captures these better and more effectively without embracing the darker themes found in the book. I also think the mythical themes of the movie offer a more captivating view of the characters and relatable life experiences.

At First Sight: Rachel and Darcy have been best friends since what feels like forever, going through every stage of life together but, on the night of Rachel's 30th birthday party, something happens and things start to unravel. That night at the end of Spring, Rachel and Darcy's fiancé Dex are the last ones at the bar and decide to go out for one last drink, they share a surprising kiss on the cab back home and end up in bed together. Dex and Rachel also have a history together - they became good friends in law school but, and even though there were some sparks there, they never acted on them, their feelings falling to the side when Rachel introduced him to Darcy and they began dating. But in that long, hot summer before Darcy and Dex's wedding, he's realizing he has never been able to get Rachel out of his mind. And Rachel finds herself thorn between the love of her life and a life-long friendship. Second Glance: Intellectually, I know how it sounds, that this is basically the story of the other woman who's wrecking a happy, already established couple, but it's far from it. It's complex and all the decisions made were complicated and hurt in more ways than one. I was so surprised to find myself getting so invested in Rachel's story, rooting for her against Darcy - in part because Darcy is a very toxic, self-centered friend - and wanting her to get the guy. It was sad learning of why she had let him get away all those years ago. But I did got to the point where I wanted both Dex and Rachel to grow some balls, she to make a stand instead of counting down the weeks and days left before the wedding, and him to bloody make a choice already instead of keep on saying he loved Rachel but that it was complicated. Though otherwise he sounded like a wonderful guy, Dex did come off as a wimp sometimes, and so did Rachel. I did love Ethan and Hilary -two of Rachel's closest friends, who help put things into perspective once or twice. Bottom Line: Over all, I liked this Something Borrowed quite a lot but a few scenes before the ending did felt somewhat scripted and, though they were fitting of the characters involved and were far from neat, they felt convenient. I will read the sequel Something Blue, and I'll watch the movie, though. By the way, the book is getting a different cover for the movie-release. Favorite Quote: "Perfection isn't what matters. In fact is the very thing that can destroy you if you let it." - Rachel

Christiane Heggan is unarguably an incredibly eloquent writer. Enemy Within was a considerably enjoyable book - with interesting characters, and a satisfying enough conclusion. It didn't quite deliver on the suspense front and the stakes didn't seem to rise much throughout the course of the story. The plot was somewhat lukewarm and often times, the dialogue sounded uncannily like the narrative. Even so, Enemy Within was an enjoyable read. The setting was absolutely enchanting and the little details about wine that were dotted throughout the entire book were charming. Recommended to anyone looking for a quick, enjoyable read.

Didn't really care for this author. I just do not enjoy the vast details describing the landscape. I like a good plot and story.
