Honestly, I wouldn't have picked up this book were it not for the author. I knew Leavitt's writing style would be authentic and entertaining at the least, soulful and original at its best. While Princess for Hire may not really be a "soulful" kind of story, it sure captured everything else on the spectrum! I wasn't sure how I felt about Desi at first--which is pretty true-to-life. What 15-year-old are you sure about at first? They're not even sure about themselves! But she quickly drew me in and I found myself staying up late, devouring the book to see how all her adventures play out. If the rest of the trilogy is as engaging, witty, clever and plain ol' FUN as this book, princesses (and their subs) have just found a new fan. Here's a summary from Amazon: Fifteen-year-old Desi feels she is wasting her life in Idaho, between her job at the pet store, where she has to wear a groundhog costume, and her bitter ex-friend Celeste, whose father was sent to jail by Desi’s attorney dad. So when Desi is offered an enchanted position as a “sub” for real princesses, why would she say no? With a desire to help these girls—whether it’s an older sister’s crash diet or a rite-of-passage ceremony—Desi gets in some hot water and in the process discovers some important truths about her own life. With creativity and a sense of humor, this first novel is a delightful romp. The provision of magic makes all things possible, and the sense of place is vividly realized. Fans of The Princess Diaries (2000) and Ella Enchanted (1997) will be pulled in by Desi and her refusal to accept the status quo. I loved this book. Maybe I feel some nostalgia because I studied in England in the late 90's or because I relate to both Emma's struggle to figure out her career and her loss of idealism, but I just loved this book. It is somewhere between bittersweet and melancholy but also somehow hopeful. I think some people, especially ones who haven't struggled in the ways Emma and Dexter do, will find the characters annoying. I felt like I understood and knew them so well though and was turning the pages (well, I read it on my nook so not really) hoping for the best for them at every turn.

Dominic is a rich guy who lives in an upper-class neighboor in the society of the mid year of the XXI secolo. He lives us his father wants him to be: student law, straight guy, soon to be married. But Dominic has secret desires, and this desires led him to eyes other guys and now this guy, Andre, who is working on the preparative for his wedding. Andre is more or less of his same age, a little taller, a little older, a little more experieced. And he reads the secrets desires of Dominic, and agrees to share one night of passion before the weeding of Dominic. But that night become two, and than some other night after the wedding. But Dominic has no courage to open himself to his father and to his family, and to the communit he lives on, so continues to hide himself and loose Andre. But he doesn't want to loose him, and, even if he makes sex with countless of stranger, he still torments his former lover, not wanting him having a new life with another man. Dominic is a difficult character; he is weak and frightened, but he also loves much: you can love him or hate him, or both. Andre apparently is stonger, but he is also who feels pain, a deep and acute pain; and he is also who looses everything he has for the love of one man. Still, he can't refuse that love to that man. It's a wonderful character and sometime you will think he is too much for a man like Dominic.
