I wish there was another shelf for books I'm re-reading to rate, like Inkspell, Harry Potter, etc... anyway! I read this book in, what, 2006? I remembering seeing it in my school's library- I liked orange when I was nine/ten so maybe that's why I picked it up. When I read the blurb I immediately thought 'Hell yes!' It was written by a fourteen year old! That's awesomazing (awesome+amazing- yeah I spoke like that)! And, to be honest, to this day *insert meaningful gaze here* this book is why I decided someday I was going to be an author. Cause, hell, this Romanian-French girl could do it. I sure could. ^That was the nine/ten year old me talking, I'm definitely not that cocky anymore. Anyway, checked out the book, got home, read it. Disliked it. It's funny because even before I could remember the title (had to Google 'three opals novel' and hope for the best) I always remembered the whole 'Death one strike thing'. The phrase haunted me for ages. I don't know why but it did! I remember not liking the book, not even finishing it. Whatever. Retry!

** spoiler alert ** Holden's struggle to understand mortality and morality may be a great work in Literature but I have to say by end of the first chapter he had me bummed out with his constant "It made me depressed....I was getting depressed." I also had a hard time with all the heavy smoking and drinking for a 16yr old prep kid. Not to mention inviting a call-girl to his room. Not a light read, but definitely insightful.

Everyone needs a good cookbook and this is my favorite. The recipes are easy to follow and the majority of them are excellent. Whenever I get a complement on my food it is nearly always something from this book. For a single guy, that's pretty great indeed.

Not gonna give this any stars as I technically only got about 70 pages in and just couldn't be bothered to read anymore, It's one of those books that has a brilliant story idea, but the style in which it's told is tedious and confusing at best.

I was a little disappointed by this book since I have heard so many good things about it; I guess my expectations were set too high. It was a good coming of age story and I couldn't put it down, but I couldn't connect with the main character that much.

My second favorite book! Sarah Gruen really did her research on such a strange yet fascinating part of history. She puts the reader right in there with the traveling circus. You can really feel how gritty, dirty, exciting, and fast paced this lifestyle was.
