Makasih Nad.... akhirnya kupegang juga buku ini :) Lucu ya kalo kenal sama penulisnya. Pas baca bukunya jadi mbayangin orangnya. Gw sih menebak Nad is Lina. Bener nggak? Gw suka gaya bercerita Nad. Tapi kok pendek banget sih Nad? Gw hanya membutuhkan 1,5 jam untuk menyelesaikannya. Padahal tokoh-tokoh (di luar tokoh utama) banyak banget, ada si ini terus si anu muncul terus dateng si itu. Waah, pacar2nya banyak banget! Pengalaman pribadi kah? :D

Pretty difficult to finish. Sped read the last 60 pages. The characters were extremely one-dimensional. It seemed really forced, as if she was trying to describe really interesting details, places, personalities, but just never making it click and never succeeding in making it interesting or compelling.

A slightly simplistic story, but entertaining. You can see the writer mature and develop through the course of the book. I'm reading it on my husband's recommendation. After finishing the book, I would say that once Eragon reaches the Varden, and the 'journey' portion of the book ends, it becomes much more interesting (to me). I am currently reading 'Eldest', and am enjoying it much more than I enjoyed Eragon. Happy Reading!

I don't usually like mysteries, but these Anna Pigeon books by Nevada Barr have captured me! Really, they are the first books I've read in a very long time that have me thinking about them even when I'm not reading: trying to figure out the solution to the mystery, or cogitating on Anna's unique and elegant way of reading others' body language, thoughts and feelings. Barr has an uncanny ability to evoke the sights, sounds, smells and feelings of our National Parks: wolves on Isle Royale, rafting down the Rio Grande, or clambering around the ruins of Ellis Island. Occasionally Barr's prose gets a little convoluted and too rich in twisty metaphors, but that is easily forgiven when enjoying these fabulous thrillers.

Reading it years later I found it not as amazing as I remembered, although some of the stories are superb. Some, though, don't work at the same level, but Lahiri is a talented writer. Her upcoming book, Unaccustomed Earth, is her best yet, I think.
