Bassem Zein bassemzein5c17 — I could not put this book down. The story of Louis Zamperini, WWII airman and POW in Japan, is astonishing. I am absolutely humbled by what he, and so many other members of our military, endured during the war. I thought being adrift in the Pacific would be the bulk of this story but 30% into my Kindle, I saw I was wrong. I couldn't imagine what was to come and it truly is shocking. I often felt my eyes fill with tears and my heart pound as I read his story. There's no review I could write to do this book justice- so just go read it. And then thank a veteran for his service. (Any veteran, any war. They are all heroes.)

Shannon Kane _hannon_ane — I absolutely love this book. What a wonderful story about growing up and finding one's own place in the world.

Liam Irwin liamirwin6d07e — The book will make you laugh, cry, think - its themes of tolerance and acceptance really moved me. It's about an orphaned 5 year old boy who goes to live with his Cherokee grandparents (in the year 1930). He is taught the "Cherokee Ways," and Little Tree learns how important it is to understand someone before you judge them. From the introduction, it appeared that the book was autobiographical. After finishing the book, I immediately went online to find out more the author. I was so disappointed to learn that it was NOT autobiographical. There is a ton of controversy surrounding the book - Forrest Carter was actually Asa Carter, a reported rascist, bigot, and KKK supporter. I'm still trying to figure out how to reconcile the incredible message of the book with the unclear intent of the author. Why did he write this? Was he trying to redeem his past? Or was it just a money making scheme? I'm not sure we'll ever know.

Andy Ko andyko — If you have noticed me "expressing gratitude" lately, it is because of this book. This book is like the 12 step program for happiness. It is meant to be practical. Now go exercise and report back.

Niclas Sandgren misterpowe5ddc — Funny cutesy doggy mystery story, the twist being that it's told first person by the dog. Otherwise predictable, with teen age girl abduction, bad Russian villains, silly girls.

Angus Macleod angusmacleod — Another silly girly read, but easily read the whole thing on a three hour ferry ride.
