This is my first Richelle Mead book. It had been on my TBR pile for some time. I flagged it because of the fae element and hoped the rest would pull me in. Well, the story was many things before all was said and done. Eugenie Markham, our heroine, is a powerful shaman who provides ghost busting type servies to those suffering with a wide variety of supernatural infestations. She is the first shaman I have read and liked. Most were wreckless or stupid. While working on several cases, she realizes that these supernatural beings know her true name. This is a new development, it's unacceptable and dangerous. As usual, Eugenie has secrets that redefine who she thinks she is plus a nasty prophecy thrown in for good measure. She is on the run from everything that can cross over into her world. Some want her dead while most want to father a child with her with the belief it will rule the world. Yeah, right. What's a heroine without a hero or two? Let's go with two. There is fox shifter Kiyo whom she meets first and falls in love with. I don't get the love part of that relationship but I accept it because it's where the author wants to go. Then we have Dorian, a fae king, that comes into the story as an 'friend' she doesn't want or trust. This is where the story takes me in a direction I did not like at all. Although Eugenie is not a whore-ish type, she is attracted to two men and has sex with them, separately of course. Not knowing Ms. Mead's ultimate agenda for Eugenie, I could see how this could turn into an Anita Blake or Meredith Gentry (Laurell K. Hamilton's characters)type situation. That would be a waste of a great character but it would not be the first time. I can only hope that does not happen. The biggest pluses for this book were the humor, interesting characters, and pacing. It's all well done and fits together. It entertains. I believe I will continue the series at some point in the future if the shifter dies or is taken out of the mix.

this is a good book, i guess. it was a very easy read, in fact i finished it very quickly (a couple reads) despite its size. the subject matter.. has me a little disturbed. it kinda made me wanna go out and score some dope, and shoot up between two cars.. he (anthony kiedis) makes drug abuse seem almost glorified. having never stuck a needle into my arm, i can only imagine the rush of "china white" into my system. i dont imagine that most drug abuser's experience are similar to tony's. he gets caught in a very vicious cycle of women, drugs, music, death, and trips to exotic places. "hey everybody! lets shoot $5,000 worth of dope, and fly to bali to detox, and unwind!!" if it werent for his seemingly accidental fall in stardom, i'm not sure he'd have led the same amazing lifestyle. dont get me wrong, he is an amazing artist, but i lost a little respect for the man towards the end of his book. id still switch places with him any time..

[books: The Perks of Being a Wallflower] is a pretty interesting epistolary novel. Charlie, the youth who writes these letters to a stranger, studs his writing with good stories and relatable fears. The story falls short when it gets a bit hokey at points and feels like an afterschool special by the end, but the cute, lovable narration almost makes up for it.

Started off super strong, was a little slow in the middle and then ended strong.

An easy, fluffy, and all the same complex story plot that you'll love to read. The Mediator series has a very captivating storyline of a girl who can see and talk to ghosts. Sounds weird? It definitely seems believable, and is set in the crystal beautiful life of southern Cali. You'll be falling for Jesse, the very hot ghost who lives in her bedroom, and won't be able to wait until she meets the next "project." Don't forget to read the last book in the series, you'll LOVE the ending!
