I started this book awhile ago, and just getting around to wrapping it up. The ending was really good.. definitely a page turner. I may have rated it higher if I wasn't kinda tired of black/white 40s/50s down south story lines for now. I would recommend as a good read though.

so did i mention same old tropes over and over again? and i'm not always a fan of how the young, female protagonist needs someone to save her so she can validate herself, but old habits die hard. also the norman that happened to pop into my head was one of the guys that worked at the second hand cd place that i frequented lots, so basically, awkward times.

This is probably in the top 5 of most enjoyable books I have ever read. Probably not the most noteworthy book from a literary sense, but a hell of a lot of fun to read.

I loved it! It was very beautiful and I learned so much about Japan and China from this book. Very very interesting. Liza Dalby is wonderful! An anthropologist and a novelist. I do think Murasaki may be clinically depressed, and I want to warn anyone who may suffer from depression, that this might be a trigger. But all in all a great story!

As with everything I've read of Mary Calmes is one of the best m/m romance authors I have come across. I love her mix of fantasy and m/m romance. Her talent and capacity for painting rich scenes and fasinating situation is great. The intimate scenes all that too! Once your done reading this you'll have to pick up the characters again in the follow up novel 'Tooth & Nail'.

Mixed feelings invade at this moment, having finished this beast. And it is a beast, emotionally and physically. At just under 1500 pages, the tome packs a punch in time and effort. That is why I struggled in deciding whether I really love this work or hate it. My feelings about the length almost reveal a more juvenile response in pure concern about "my time" being wasted. However, Richardson's opus magnum is very good and I can "almost" ponder coming back to this at a much later date. A good portion of the beginning is spent on character development and it can get a trite sloggy and boggy. Tenacity may be what pays off with this one, if due only to its length and the compelling story contained within.

What a great book to finish up a series. I am a total sucker for Faerie books. Especially when they involve the different kingdoms of the Summer Queen, the Winter King, Mabh and of course Puck/Robin Goodfellow. I think that Lesley Livingston writes in such a way that you can visualise the characters and the setting and are whisked into the world of the Fey and I would be lying if I said that I didn't wish that I was a fairy princess, with purple wings, kicking some butt and kissing Sonny Flannery...just saying! If you like stories of the Fair folk, then you should definitely give this series a go.
