This one was pretty relevant to my work as a sex educator, but was not what I would call gripping non-fiction. Very informative and added some new insight to the topic of virginity. Beware for education purposes, it seems a little off if you're working with youth.

I found O'Brien young. And I've never forgotten him or his books. What a writer! What a mind. The book is a mystery, a morality tale, a fantasy, a joke, a work of comic genius, and every word is to the point. One of my very very favorite books of all time.

** spoiler alert ** I did not like this book. That being said, I couldn't walk away from it. And I get that those two statements don't necessarily mesh. I kept waiting for something redeeming, something to help this character feel better, feel part of life. And it wasn't there. So, the fault is definitely not with the writing - some of the phrases and quirks were really delightful - it's a very readable book. But, it is not a book to read on a whim, at the beach or when life is handing you lemons. I don't necessarily need a happy ending to every book I need, but this one was just too much for me.

Anything by David Sedaris requires you to run to the grocery store, stock up on ready to eat meals, and then lock yourself into your room until you have read it cover to cover twice (with the non-stop laughing, you will inevitably miss something the first time).

Disappointed by this book cause I felt like I'd read it before. Its typical Bronte, love story, heavy on religion and morality... Its in the same vein as Shirley (but less political) and Jane Eyre (but less romantic) and Wuthering Heights (but less gothic fantasy). I was expecting more from the author of my favorite book of the bunch: Wildfell Hall.

It's amusing enough, but nothing phenomenal. The strange sex situations become passe as per the author's intent and the whole bit ends up as a memoir of the author's journey from virgin to perv; sometimes it's a bit hard to care, sometimes it's wry and funny. I recommend it as a light read. Get's overdrawn towards the end.
