A scary look at what really happens inside of hospitals. The book is written by a surgeon during his residency training and is very true to hospital life. The book starts very strong, but it flails towards the end. Some of the later stories are a little too sensationalistic. This book would be very accessible to readers outside of the field of medicine, and it gives a rare glimpse into the real life of a surgeon (sorry, it's not Grey's Anatomy or ER).

This book was kind of a hot mess. I understand why my professor assigned it, but it was pretty horrible. Not poorly-written or particularly ignorant, but horrible in the sense of the movie 'Kids' -- eloquently done with distasteful subject matter. When I realized (and wrote a paper exploring) that the book can be read as an existentialist text, I appreciated it more. But I liked it no better.

Brilliant write up of a crazy time. Gave a real insight into the world of investment banking and found myself jealous in parts and then really glad I'm nowhere near that world . Well written and feels like an honest account of intense times. Well worth a read

This book was definetly one of my favorites that I have read this year. It not only described the life of an Afghan woman and how Deborah changed it, but also made us laugh and enjoy her time in Afganistan as much as she did. Whether you enjoy memoirs or not, read this book.

I absolutely loved this book.....far more than I expected to. Couldn't quite give it 5 stars because I thought the latter half of the book left out lots of the "juice" surrounding the Bush Administration. I realize that was not the intent of this book. Four and half stars if I could.
