Emma Szostok emma_louiise — This was a bit harder to get through, but still very good. I'm not sure what to think of the ending, but it didn't leave me disappointed.

Dmitry Egorov mazzoniguid2ea — This book was a bit more gruesome than ones I normally read, about a serial killer killing authors of serial killer books, and mainly about a Psychologist whose expertise is about crime linkage (but is also married to an author). Good book with an unexpected twist.

Ann Theresa amddillon47d0 — This is a good historical fiction set towards the end of the "War of the Roses" period of English history. It gives insight into the political and working lives of the silk merchants and the women it employed.

Sharath Hegde sharathsghfa35 — 4 stars – Contemporary Romance/Erotica/BDSM I’m torn between giving 4 or 5 stars for Wicked Burn because although I enjoyed the writing, story, and steamy eroticism for a contemporary romance, I really disliked the characters, so I’m settling with 4 stars. Vic and Niall waste no time in scorching the sheets, and I liked the whole ‘how do we go from a one night stand to something deeper?’ aspect of the story. The sex scenes are smoking hot, but left me feeling cold because I never felt a connection between Vic and Niall and Vic’s bedroom demeanor is callous, selfish, and distant. Actually, Vic is a cold brute in and out of the bedroom, so he really rubbed me the wrong way on all fronts. Niall is a passive doormat who not only tolerates Vic’s cruel behavior but begs for more, even though she separated from an abusive husband...go figure. Both characters had lots of emotional baggage, and I felt like instead of taking the sex-will-fix-us route, Vic and Niall were in need of some honesty and good communication. I’m a fan of good BDSM erotica and can appreciate D/s relationships with the best of them, but Vic’s cold dominant behavior just plain pissed me off. His whole ‘you’ll take it or else’ got old, especially since he never showed a tender or soft side, even when Niall's sad and painful past is revealed. Overall, Wicked Burn is a really good story with lots of explicit, blistering hot, erotic sex scenes, but I just didn’t quite feel the love. Still, it’s worthy of 4 stars.

暨 邦杰 1354213818c294 — I mistakenly got the impression that Cloud Atlas was about someone's sailing trip, so I was reluctant to read it. While, travel across the ocean plays an important part of the story(ies), I could not have been more wrong about the subject matter of the book. The theme of this book is the development of a character's ethic through a device that at once mystical, symbolic, structured and unique. I cannot emphasize enough how original this story is. Some have compared it to Byatt's Possession or Robinson's Year's of Rice and Salt. I admit the similarities. However, the parallels are much more complex, clever, fascinating. Mitchell not only build six separate stories-within-stories, but does so using different genres of writing. There are twists one does not expect. Each story inspires the next in a way that is deeply satisfying. For me, this novel gains a place of the shelf next to Master and Margarita as a truly original, deeply meaningful work of beauty. My only comment is that reviewers should just stop using the metaphor that the book is a series of nested dolls. Please, is it possible you could use a metaphor the author himself doesn't use? Please. Read this book. It's a work of beauty.
