Marko Nikolic markonikolic — Unforgettable, loved the whole series, but the first one was the best. So poignant and revealing of human character.

Elizabete Strigele elizabete_ — I prefer this series when it is set in Lake Tahoe, California - and that is because I used to live there. At any rate, this is a good summer read featuring a likable female character, although for whatever reason I liked the person who turned out to be the villian the most. I am usually the last one to guess whodunnit, but in this case I figured it out pretty early. Nonetheless, a page-turner for those who like thrillers - it would almost qualify as a cozy-thriller if there weren't a couple of sex scenes and a gruesome murder, both of which seem out-of-place in this book.

Jose Magalhaes zmaglh — Ana Montes was an absolutely without doubt model employee of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) for 16 years. She had top secret clearances, she was known as THE expert on Cuba, she was highly intelligent and diligent, and, as it turns out, all the while she was systematically and continually giving Castro our closely guarded secrets. The only thing that blew her cover was a tiny set of almost imperceptible observations made by the author and several agents within the agency, which led them to pursue a full-fledged investigation of Montes. Parts of this book are fascinating and shocking, such as the amount of time it actually took to get permission from the powers that be to allow the investigators to gain access to Montes' personal belongings, her apartment, etc. But most shocking of all is just the fact that she got away with spying for 16 years before anyone began to catch on to her double life. She was very very good at what she did.

Angga Risky anggarisky — if 4 stars didn't mean really liked it, i'd go with that, but it partially, really turned me off, so i just can't. however, it is a super user-friendly guide to being greener. also, there's a good companion website: www.greenmatters.com. i'd like to give this book two separate ratings - 5 stars for the comprehensive, yet concise and well organized content. and, the book's physical form is nice. it has a place in my go-to drawer in the kitchen. but, i'd give it 1 star for being preachy, presumptuous, condescending, patronizing, annoying, etc. and, the title is totally a lie. (but, if we're going to save the planet, we've got to spread this lie (and the one about it not being expensive, too) far and wide.) ms. trask has done a good thing, and i appreciate it, so i feel bad for being harsh, but moralistic ("Our obligation to at least try to pay our own way in life, raise our children into healthy, productive and ethical members of society, and lighten our impact on the earth, among other things, is real.") attitudes and the government is always the only/best solutionism really perturb me.

Sebastian Rivas sebv — Breathless... that's what I am, after reading Magenta Shaman. And, it's not because I literally 'tore' through the story. Once I started reading, I could NOT put this down! I don't have a Kindle yet, so I download to the Kindle for PC app. I was reading this on my desktop computer the other night, and if the power had chosen that particular time to go out... my 'cries' would have been heard all the way to Eastbourne! (I live on the West Coast of the United States.) Urban fantasy/horror is a genre I have not read a lot of, especially the last several years. Not because I lost interest... but, because I found new interests. After reading Magenta Shaman, I am asking myself what was so bloody important to leave behind stories like this! Lily's dark tale... you were right, Lily. It IS a love story... leaves a delicious 'taste', and a hunger for more! What absolutely wonderful, dark imagery her words conjure... I can almost feel the Billowat's fetid, rotting breath on me. From the opening paragraph, my heart rate doubled... if I had been reading a paper book version, I would have left sweaty fingerprints throughout. Oh... I was right about one thing, Lily. Even with a night light, I tossed and turned all night! Somehow... "Thank you" seems a bit inadequate!
