Jessica Y jwendesign — This author is amazing and writes incredible sentences! I always go back and read the first chapter of a book after I'm done reading it because I never get everything from that chapter the first time through. You need to do that with this book. Its not a happy book though, its sort of a downer. I guess you can't ever look at anyone's life from afar and assume they are living a good life.

Nury Romero nuryromero — this is the only byatt i've actually been able to get into completely, and man, i got into this one. the elegance of the language, the shifting times, the parallels and the differences - it's masterful and beautiful and leaves you aching in all the right places, and yet so fulfilled. the movie was dismal. the book reminded me of arcadia in all the best ways - except as a fully fleshed out novel, instead of a play.
