Lemoned I _4a0b — I read this after reading Thomas' more recent novel "The End of Mr. Y", which I adored. I actually think that PopCo works better as a cohesive whole, and I enjoyed it quite a bit, though it didn't have quite the same resonance with me in terms of having a specific set of ideas I was excited to read about as Mr. Y did. I definitely reccomend this one to others, though. It's got a very strong anti-commericalist, anti-herd-mentality, anti-fashion-in-all-aspects-of-life bent, and that's very good. Plus it's got puzzles and mathematical theory packaged into a really engaging and readable narrative.

Andrzej Kwedo kwedo — Excellent surrealist book. Even though the book makes no sense by common standards, it makes perfect sense within the world it creates for itself. It's the kind of page-turner that has the ability to captivate anyone regardless of age. Also, it's a very interesting lingüístic reflexion, for those who are into those things.

Sérgio Dias _ — A good story for someone wanting to get a historical perspective on the changes that Afghanistan has gone through. As the plot weaves through multiple wars the characters react enough to show us they're real people. The ending felt terribly contrived though. It just doesn't add up; it looks like the author is hunting for something we can all universally hate to use an acceptable enemy. Overall it's not a bad book for its history, but nothing amazing for its story.
