Zongjyun Yu 886_un — Competent writing. Not much plot, but interesting world-building. The characters were also interesting, but I would've liked to see them better fleshed out. Henry's motivations are not believable, and Volentine remains fairly one-dimensional. This would've been three stars, but I'm deducting a star for the abrupt and ridiculous ending.

Leo Yip yeliyong — Three and a half stars. Three stars for the content, which was disturbing and sometimes dallied too long in the awfulness without enough retrospective, adult Margaux analysis, but four stars for the quality of her prose. I wish she had spent more of the story in her teenaged years, as her awakening into adulthood and agency in her own life was more important to me than the gritty details of the victimization of her childhood. This was a troubling book that I considered abandoning at times, more so because of the emotional and psychological abuse she suffered than the sexual abuse (which is not to discredit the latter in any way). I'm taking it back to Half-Price rather than keeping it on my shelf, but I'm glad to have read it.
