Its take on human nature upset me at the time, I now try to keep my eye on who is holding the conch and what is happening to the piggys of the world. for a long time, I could not figure out why the school curriculum contained such depressing negative books - now I realize why. Just as I remember 3/4s of the class just not getting it. that is all reflected in our society.

Santiago Bedoya _antibs937f8d — The one book I continue to learn from despite the 20+ readings of it. There is the spirit in this book and that is why I learn so much every time I take it up. It is true and is all it purports to be.

Chantal Barlow chantalbarlow — Very interesting book that made me comfortable with my own thoughts and viewpoints. I like to think that many of the driving principles of Harlan Hubbard are not too far from my own (though I would never compare myself on any profound level to such a great man). It was of comfort to know that men like him have existed in the modern era. This book discusses, very simply, the life of Hubbard and his wife, who remove themselves from society to live a subsistence life far from the hustle, bustle and plagues of modernity. One thing that stuck out for me was his discussion of noise and just how much noise there is in cities or in any overly developed area. He doesn't even use machines to farm and one of his principle reasons is that "they just produce too much racket." Truth.

Donny Blanchard donnydesigns — Ugh. This was such a slog, after such a promising opener too. I found this pretty much impenetrable, it was never really clear who was in each scene, often referring to he or him, which was often Cromwell, but not always. Unfortunately I think this book requires a prior reasonable grasp of the history and people involved.
