osamanahel
Osama Abu osamanahel — If you like suspense, action and are into conspiracy theories, I recommend this book. The story line was the first thing to grab me. Here is a man who lost his wife and everything he stood for and now someone is not only using his name but his dead wife’s name to bury mysterious people. Not once, but several times! Having nothing else to lose, Pete travels around trying to find out not only who is doing this but why, while trying to get killed for nosing around. The main character here, Pete, is likable. A bit dense sometimes, I end up rooting for him and worrying for him when he continues to put himself in danger with questionable men. I have to admire his persistence at finding out what people are getting out of this whole plot, yet at the same time I want to scream at him that he is way over his head and to just walk away. William Brown did an excellent job in pulling me in and keeping my attention throughout the book. There wasn’t a rest in the plot and more importantly, no down times. It was constant action and suspense.

Vignesh Kumar _icky_anesh — "'How long will you keep me?' I asked. You shrugged. 'Forever, of course.'" What starts out as a cute encounter with a boy in an airport coffee shop ends with Gemma stranded in the middle of no where. No where being an endless desert with no signs of humanity. That is aside from her kidnapper Tyler. Kidnapped and taken against her will, Tyler has it in his mind to keep her with him forever. Gemma has other plans.Written in letter format, Gemma written to her biggest fear: Tyler. Personally, I could have cared less for the book. I did not hate it, but I did not love it either. I think the letter format threw me off for half of the book, and I could not connect or emphasize with Gemma. The emotional factor did not kick in for me to really get into the book. There were good parts of the book that increased my reading pace and others that forced me to put it back down. Overall, the book was okay, but it was not anything I would rave about. As a teaching tool, some of the language would not be appropriate. For example, the "eff" word was occasionally popular with Tyler. There was also instances of content that could be questionable. (I do not want to list it for spoiler problems.) However, it would do a good job to showing a different type of genre (letter) and a strong first person narration.

Kevin Lam kev_lamm — A very satisfying conclusion. The losses may be a bit predictable as are the final choices. And yet one can't fault how it all wraps up because everything has been earned through the course of the series. And then there's this: I'm no warrior and have no desire to be, but if forced, what better banner to fight under than the tattered standard embroidered with Hen Wen, the oracular pig?
