Neil Mcelmon neilmcelmon6d60 — Started off interesting, but then dropped off toward the end. Pretty much the same arguments against religion as other athiests write about - Crusades, human sacrifice, sexual repression - but written in a more-interesting-to-read manner.

Rafal Mirocha greystonecc5a2 — While I really enjoyed the stream of consciousness type writing in the first two parts of this book and maybe even the third part of the book, the fourth and final part suddenly become third person omniscient, and that really confused me. I thought that the last part was just kind of blah whereas the first part, for example, was poetic. The first half of the book also maintains a sense of mystery (you're not 100% sure what has happened between the siblings) that is very intriguing, but I found this element to be completely absent in the second half. Maybe I missed something. Maybe I need to read this again. Maybe this just isn't my style. At least now I can say I've read it. 3/5 stars.

Sana Sabouni sabounisana — Richard Newman is a badass of a poet - brutal at times, always elegant. The bleak midwestern landscape of his hometowns, where even the ditches have names, are a perfect backdrop for his sad and funny poems. The boy can work himself some meter, too. Favorite poems include his monster sonnets, which expose the existential angst of your favorite matinee movie idols, including Mothra ("Let's face it, I make a shitty monster").
