When I read what this novel was about it went on my TBR list immeadiately I first saw it in WHSmiths in paperback and was so tempted to buy it there and then. It's a must read for anyone and I can't think of anyone who wouldn't read this. Nicholls created such believable characters so in depth that by the end I felt teary on the very last page. He hasn't made the characters to be perfect for each other, sometimes they're not, sometimes they are foolish, cowardly and their behvaiour is unexpected, but thats what is so good about it. This book tugs at your heart strings and parts of the story ring true in my own life and I could really connect with the characters and story on so many levels. Each and every part of the book has a purpose, there isn't any ' well that was pointless' or 'why bother having that chapter' It fitted perfectly & made the novel exactly what it is!
