George Cht embde — I read this as it was lent to me by a friend and I thought I'd give it a try, though I originally wasn't really that bothered about it. Unfortunately it wasn't much better than my expectations. The first bit about Rome was sort of cool having just visited there myself, but to be honest the food there wasn't what I would've chose as the best in the world, not that that was the only reason she was in Rome, but since that was the 'eat' part of the book, you'd expect it to be somewhere with better food. The 'pray' section was by far the dullest and hardest to get through! Although it was interesting learning a bit more about the yogi belief system, it was far too pretentious for my taste. I just simply didn't care what revelations the author was discovering through all her boring descriptions of meditation. The final 'love' section in Bali, Indonesia was by far the best bit. of the book. It was a nice way to revisit what I considered one of the best parts of my recent trip to Bali as it took place almost entirely in Ubud and I knew exactly what she was talking about when she described things there and the direction of the story in this bit was far more interesting and less self-indulgent. My overall opinion about this book is that it's one of those hyped up ones that may be an international best-seller but it's just not my cup of tea.

Haia Hesham haiadesign8beb — I loved the first 3 Earth's Children Books. There was nothing else like them at that time. The penultimate book I thought was a bit slow but I gave it the benefit of the doubt since all the loose ends would be tied up in Painted Caves. How disappointed was I? If all the repetition was left out, the book would only be 50 pages. The detail about the caves, whilst academically impressive, was overdone and even became tedious. I feel very disappointed after waiting nearly 25 years for it all to be wrapped up.
