Stormi Baker stormi_weatherr — I enjoyed the writing for this book and was glad that the story of Rhett and Scarlett went as it did. However, I have a couple gripes with this sequel. For the most part, McCaig's characterizations were spot-on, but I really think he missed the boat with Melanie. She would never have written what he had her write and she wouldn't have said many of the things he had her say. Also, does nothing good happen to people in the South???? I was very near despair while reading this book because so many horrible things happen to so many people! Yes, the Civil War was bad and Reconstruction may have been even more devastating to the people, but I like to read to escape reality, not have more cold, bloody, mean and hateful reality thrown at me! In the end, I'm glad I read this, but if you love GWTW as much as I do, be prepared for some dissappointments.
