宗一郎 片山 lusoi — This is an awesome novel. It's suspenseful, often funny, and the author has a keen insight into human nature. It's a medical mystery laced with the innocence of first love.

Rica Cueto ricacueto — With this novel you get two stories for the price of one. First there is the story of Nagash's descent into entanglement with dark sorcery and his rise to rulership of the kingdom of Khemri. Then there is the story of a war between Nagash as king of Khemri and several of his rival kings. Unfortunately these two stories are intertwined in such a way that it can be confusing, especially since many characters are involved in both storylines, you have to keep careful track of which storyline is being advanced in any given chapter. Lee has, however, done an excellent job with the entire novel. His portrayal of the most famous Necromancer in the Warhammer world is suitably chilling, especially since it is clear right from the start that Nagash is cold, calculating and completely ruthless right from the start. Like almost all Warhammer novels, the book is action-heavy, and the battle sequences are very realistic, with all the gory details left in. However this does not get in the way of some very rich characterisation. Of course Lee ensures that Nagash's character is well illustrated, but he also handles many of the other characters well, giving enough detail to flesh them out into 'real' people (as opposed to paper thin archetype characters) without expending inordinate time on useless details. Also Lee does well at conveying a surprising amount of detail about the generalities of Nehekheran society in comparatively short space (although anyone with even a passing familiarity with Egyptology will recognise that a lot of the names, social structures and other background details have been shamelessly stolen from historical Egypt). All in all an excellent addition to what is rapidly becoming one of the better series to emerge from the Games Workshop franchise.
