Barbara Vitali molarotta — The conceit of this book is absurd while the story is completely believeable, but that's just what Martel does: make the bizarre seem normal. Multitudes of writers have used animals to explore human nature, but few--if any--have done it as well as Martel (see also Beatrice and Virgil ). His prose is rich and his characters (human or otherwise) are fully developed, his thoughts are lofty but expressed in earthy terms... and all of these traits are on full display in Life of Pi. This may not be an absolutely perfect book, but Yann Martel may just be an absolutely perfect author.

Andito Nugroho anditonugroho — I really enjoyed how much like a Jane Austen book this was. The main Charictor is sweet and it was nice that she wasen't totally responcible for her crappy boyfriend expirences. She wasne't perfect by any means, but she didn't act rediculously stupid and it was nice to see her develop self knowladge and grow as a chrictor as the plot progressed.

Cathy Briggs saygracie1374c — I wanted to burn the book then drill it out out of my head. Anything just as painful would also have sufficed. One of the worst books I have ever read. All those positive reviews r just lies. This book has no flow and was hell to get through. I should have gone with my first instinct to put down the book. Carroll can thank the Goodreads reading challenge -- the ONLY reason I finished the piece of crap that she calls a book.
