Vinay Gaykar vinaygaykaf4ec — Originally on From Book to Hooked. I wasn't really sure what to say about this book. I was initially very intrigued. And, don't get me wrong, I do love it. Just not as much as I hoped. Lena shows up in the small town of Gaitlin, struggling to conceal her powers and a curse that has haunted her family for generations. Ethan can't wait to escape from the boring, old town... until he meets Lena. He's drawn to her in a way he can't explain, but he's determined to find out why. What I loved most about this book was the plot. There were a lot of secrets in this book that kept the pages turning and kept me wrapped up in the story. More so toward the middle of the book. The romance between Lena and Ethan of course wrapped me up as well. You know me, sucker for emotional stories. Ethan is mortal (or so we're led to believe, but I'm still suspicious) and he fell in love with Lena, a not so mortal girl. They're a star crossed couple with a relationship doomed to fail. Ethan seemed too good. I'm not sure that makes sense? I think the whole southern hospitality jazz was a little too overplayed in his characterization. Yep. Dramatization would be a good word. Lena was an interesting character. I wanted to slap her almost every two seconds, but she was interesting. Maybe I'm missing something, but I couldn't understand the way she acted toward the people that loved her and were trying to help her. Maybe it was some exaggeration of a teenage girl... She was happy *insert girl singing with animals in the forest* and then she got upset *insert storm cloud over girls head with animals running for cover.* I mean that last part quite literally. So, in essence, she wasn't my favorite character, but I hope to get to know her better in the future. If you've read this book I'd love to know what you thought. Overall, while I had a little problem with the characters, I'm intrigued to know where the story will go next.
