Mayara Jardim mayarajardimphoto — What a proper nutter! The scariest thing though is how you come to view Lou Ford’s actions as making sense, how you so easily by into this first person narrative. Once his beast is released he begins racking up the body count in a desperate attempt to stay ahead of the dead. Environmental triggers are hinted at as the story unfolds, but we are very much concerned with his present predicament. It is being privy to Lou’s internal dialogue that is so seductive, that enfolds us in his decision making, that sees us accepting the logic of his actions. But his actions betray him for the sadist and psycho he is, the pleasure he derives from inflicting pain on women, the remorseless and perfunctory nature of his murder of innocents and friends, even the casual violence towards the bum and his delight in making folks deliberately uncomfortable when he speaks to them. Lou’s beast is always itching to get out in all it’s violent misogyny and when it does it delights in pain and suffering and murder and we reach the end of our sympathy for this first person narrator.

Charo Espinosa jungla — I really enjoyed the strong female character in this book. She was tough, self-sufficient, and intelligent. A refreshing change from the "I am nothing without a boyfriend" characters that we usually see in this genre.

Dmitri Zavora zavorad — No movie will ever rival what the mind does with Stoker's words. Absolutely none.

Ronnel Razon ronneldrazon — Hmmm, this is a tough one to review. I have seen this family's show on TLC and was floored at how religious and preachy a life they live. The Gosselin's religious beliefs are not apparent whatsoever in "Jon & Kate +8." However, the book seems to be one big testimonial of their faith and reliance on God. Kate makes no bones about the fact that after "her God" Jon comes first and then her children. Her family serves the Lord and she wants you to know about it. Here's the rub though- her testimonial seems a bit disingenuous. The story of the sextuplets birth was an interesting one though. Reading about the first year of their lives was riveting stuff. Kate seems to feel some remorse for her controlling and cranky behavior that first year. But why? Her controlling behavior helped everyone live through it- whether it was scheduling the volunteers, preparing the babes' bottles, or fighting off what had to be overwhelming despair. The first year of their lives she only got out one time on her own. One. Time. In. A. Year. This is a quick read about a Christian couple who believe that this was all God's plan.
