Andrie Ladaga andrieladaga — Unlike anything I have read. Dark, violent, gripping. Great characters. If you cannot handle graphic scenes and language you may wish to take a pass.

Martin Baker theprint — I have a lot of mixed feelings about this first volume, but I'm going to go ahead and give this a good rating. "Mars" is your typical shojo manga (man, I have been saying that way too often) but there's something about it that doesn't make me want to drive a thousand knives through each and every single page. Firstly, I fell in love with the art. I was highly reminded of Satomi Ikezawa's art (Othello and Guru Guru Pon-Chan). The male leads both look shockingly familiar, in looks anyway. I'm guessing a lot of males in the 90s had that particular type of hairstyle? The concept of it makes me laugh. Anyway. Yes, a lot of the art was great to look at. I usually don't like the 90s style but it was definitely fitting. Secondly, even if I've seen the plot many times before, this is a whole entire different story. There's just so much angst and I love it (I've been running low on the angst lately)! Although I can picture what will happen in the end, I have no idea what will happen from point A to point B. Besides, it's the journey that counts, not the destination. Thirdly, the characters had me hooked from the beginning. Well, mostly Rei. I could not stand Kira at first since she was just too much, but as the book progressed, I think she really grew. But, Rei is still my favourite. He seems like a simple character, but he's very complex and just so interesting to read about. I don't really care what happens to Kira, as long as Rei is happy in the end! So far, I'm loving the series. I'm going to have to buy every single volume now.

Peter Duong peterduong — Best books I've ever read....I was in to Twilight, but for an adult these are the best. I've tried to read other books that were compared to these but nothing is as good.
