And though she doesn't mean to, Belle finds herself falling in love with Daniel, even though he is already engaged to another. Can they ever be together, and will Belle ever find her father again? I highly recommend this book to teenage girls who enjoy historical romances, as well as older readers who enjoy a sweet love story. The romance is very cute and sweet, and the historical setting isn't extremely detailed, but creates an interesting background for the story while teaching a few historical facts.

Alessia Pastorello _lessia_astorello — I'm glad I read this book... it had the feeling of good literature. I loved Owen Meany and his VOICE... I could actually hear him speak! Johnny was a good friend throughout the story, but became pretty self-absorbed with religion and politics as we went along. Since I am of the same era as the characters in the book, I felt the treatment of the Vietnam war, protests, & politics were fairly portrayed in the book. I especially enjoyed cousin Hester's anti-war views, and knew people just like her back in the day...!!

Julien Saint juliensain38f6 — This book was a quick read. Charming and cute, full of tales from a small town. However, there was know big message, or deeper meaning that stuck with me. Truthfully if you asked me what it was about, or a particular story from it...I wouldn't be able to tell you. Certainly not a book to read if you want to be emotionally involved or affected in any way.
