This is really one of my favorites in the most contemporary persian literature. This is a two-storyline story, which cohere both lines from a point and goes on very well. The details in this work are smartly chosen and are never wasted. They just get located in the best place too complete a part of story. There are never excessive descriptions in the story, and even sometimes, just a smart hint does the job. All in all, Ms. Shamloo very well knows what to do in writing a novel.

The description made me think this book would be some sort of trashy romance trying to have a plot. It wasn't that at all. The end made me say what the hell?!!? Not because something shocking happened, more like "that's it? that's all?" In the middle, it made me think, a lot. So all in all, I guess I'd have to say a pretty good book. Not one of my favorites ever, I'm not going to go around telling everyone I meet about this wonderful book. But in that a good books should challenge you, and make you think, its a very good book. And it painted realistic characters having realistic lives. But it was also pretty depressing, because it was so realistic that nothing ever really got resolved, and that left me feeling unsatisfied.

A Prayer for Owen Meany is my absolute favorite book of all time. This novel tells the story of a friendship between Johnny Wheelright, a boy without a father, and Owen Meany, a little person with an unusual voice. Owen believes that his life has a purpose, and that he has been called by God. Johnny and Owen grow up together, sharing adventures and learning life lessons along the way. This novel is entertaining and uplifting, and the characters are charming, though realistically imperfect. While reading this book, I guarantee that you will laugh out loud at some points and that your eyes will fill with tears at others. John Irving's use of symbolism is excellent, and the novel has many different levels of meaning. I highly recommend A Prayer for Owen Meany to everyone who likes to read. It's over 500 pages long, but you'll be sad when it's over. PS I have a copy, so ask if you'd like to borrow it!
