Wow. I might be rating this a little higher than I would otherwise, but I finished it the same day I read a couple comics that were, frankly, a bit shit. The other writer (who shall remain nameless) is quite well respected, but compared to Naoki Urasawa (and Tezuka of course) they really have a lot to learn about telling an engaging story.

This is one of the most influential books I've ever read. I own multiple copies and I've read it many times. Murchie spent 18 years writing it. He illustrated it by hand. Every page has its own title. I've never read a book so lovingly created. He makes hard science read like poetry.

The Truth about Grit by Jonah Lehrer I've read two books by Lehrer now and his name in this book is one of the reasons I got this book. (That name and Steven Pinker's name). This is a short article on the power of grit and getting things done and genius.

Although it can read like a laundry list at times, this book is an excellent introduction to the Civil Rights movement in general, and Mississippi's unique role in it, in particular. The story is one of declention. By the time one gets to the end, the thought of a revolution for rights seems like a pathetic and idiotic dream.
