This Lullaby gets from me 3 stars. For the matter of fact when I started this book I already wanted to start another one so I kinda rushed through it and was impatient to enjoy it that well. In the beginning I found Remy’s character a bit annoying cuz she was so strict and picky about everything (and guess what - it’s soo me sometimes. Jeez, am I that annoying to other peepz then sometimes? Sorry about that) I loved Dexters character, he was this positive-cool-ready for commitment-kind of guy who doesn’t let the girl push him away (yeah we all want that guy but I’ve only read about them in books) A believer! And of corse Remy is the opposite, that’s what makes the story a good one. There were really great scenes with both of them together but then abruptly when it came to family/friends story I lost interest. So for me it was an up-and-down read. I understand the story of Remys family relation had to be told and it was all a part of the story and added to the message of this book. But I couldn’t help myself but finding some parts less catchy. I liked the end BUT again it’s a pity we didn’t get a good scene with a great dialog, you can tell approx. what Remy and Dex have been talking about - expecially the future - but I would have loved to read it.

There's nothing I could say in this review, that Oscar Wilde wouldn't make fun of (from the grave). I'm just not as clever as that hilarious bastard.

This was my least favorite Stephen King book. Still fantastic, but I much prefer the long suspenseful plots than the quick 10 page short stories. No lack of suspense of disturbingness though, each story is guaranteed to send chills down your spine, and leave you staring down the drain pipe of your kitchen sink and heeding all advice recieved on the telephone (:

I agree with Mrs. Bloxby; Agatha is slowly growing up.

Oh oh oh it almost hurts me how much I love this book. Baricco can make anything, anything into gorgeousness. City is a brilliant amalgam of stories, including a comic book, a boxing match, lectures by myriad professors on things like curves in nature or Monet's Waterlillies or intellectual dishonesty, and of course the main story, which is about a boy-genius, his two imaginary friends (a giant and a bald mute), his absent military father and his institutionalized mother, and his kooky fantastic governess who is writing a Western. Yes yes, a Western, which in itself is maybe one of the most beautiful, clever stories I have ever read. I. Love. This. Book. Good grief go out and get a copy and read it already.

I was disappointed by this book at first because this diary wasn't nearly as detailed as Dr. Klukowski's Nazi-era one. Klukowski was heavily involved in underground activity under the Communists as well as the Nazis and was, I think, afraid to say too much. He referred to everyone by code names and wrote in a very oblique way much of the time because he knew what the consequences would be if the diary were to be discovered by the Soviet authorities. Certainly I could understand all this, but the result was that I didn't know what Klukowski was talking about half the time and was very frustrated. Things picked up quite a bit though, when it came to his prison memoirs in the second half of the book. That's what made the book worth reading for me. Klukowski wrote about his prison experience in the manner of a documentary, trying to tell as much as he could, as accurately as he could. He wrote matter-of-factly and without self-pity. I had to admire the inmates and their various methods of coping with the terrible conditions. This is a valuable book for those interested in post-WW2 Poland and the Soviet occupation. I think I still like Klukowski's Nazi occupation diaries better, though.

An awesome start to a cool new series based on a neat, unique premise of three sisters, triplets, descendents of the gorgon Medusa, who have special powers they use to fight monsters of mythology such as minotaurs, manticores, gryphons, etc in today's world. Why they have to fight these monsters is not totally clear, but hopefully in the next book more will be explained as well as more about who is helping them and who is hindering them.
