Thought I'd give this book a read since it was ranked #4 on the "top free 100" list on the Kindle and it's from the "Left Behind" author. I'll let you know what I think. This book was a good story. Jenkins makes the characters very easy to identify with. The book takes you back and forth between the two main characters Brady Darby and Thomas Carey, usually several times within a few pages. I found it fun and easy to read with a story which ultimately reveals the fact that no one is beyond the redemption of God's grace.

Smart yet silly, gives an alternate look to the wisdom of the Tao Te Ching, but through the eyes of Winnie the Pooh and his friends.

A great, quick read. It just sucks you in and you don't want to put it down.

The plot is labyrinthine, beginning when a television reporter catches a local social worker in a sting for pedophiles. Then it turns out that he and his four Princeton room mates have all been ruined during the past year by what turns out to be a kind of viral Internet rumor mill. There are many secrets that must be uncovered before the story runs its course. It's all a little too complex, and the denouement is a little too pat. Still, a decent airplane or beach read.

I just read it to see what all the fuss was about. At this point, I'd imagine it reads a little dated.

Although it starts off in a place unknown, this book finds itself just a few pages in. I was entranced by the usual meeting the unusual in Coolarney and fell in love with the characters. I will say that there was a bit too much resolution and action happening in a very short time period towards the end but all in all, a great and very quick read.
overall very fun. end left me wanting though, as it seemed a bit anticlimatic and disappointing. had to be expected, but i think something more interesting could have been done with it. fun though, and the religious commentary is highly entertaining.

This was an enjoyable book. Not amazing. Not thrilling. Not even "delightful." But enjoyable. It was like "reading" an old black and white silent film, which no doubt was the author's intention. It was an interesting mix of genres that worked nicely together. In some ways, I feel like the innovation of this book alone warrants reading it. I enjoyed the illustrations, but, again, wasn't Wowed by the style. The constant close-ups annoyed me a bit (even though I understood the "feel" of film Selznick was striving to evoke). At one point, the story includes some illustrations by George Melies and I thought, "Wow! Now those are some amazing illustrations." Not until the end of the book did I realize that they were actual drawings by the true Melies. Now THAT would have been an amazing book :)

Not quite as funny as Home Land, but still pretty damn funny. I read this right before I read Freedom, and I thought it was far superior in every possible way. But since it's a comedy (albeit a very dark one), I suppose it'll never get the same attention and praise as the very serious Jonathan Franzen. Kind of like how comedic movies are rarely nominated for Academy Awards.

The book is about a marriage that begins as a cold deal between two persons that do not love each other. Gabriel is the quintessential domineering men, whereas Jess is a simple woman. Jess is not stunning, not especially witty, she is by no way a kick-ass kind of heroine, but she knows that she needs nerve to cope with her husband, and she finds it. The first pages, when they begin their marriage are absolutely compelling. While they begin their relationship with passion, passion it is not enough, so they struggle until they learn to trust and respect each other. This is one of my all time favorites. ***** After reading myself this book yet another time I wondered why I am so engaged with this book. I think it struck a chord: it's about learning to love, and about sometimes the first love is not THE love or your life. And Gabe is... compelling (to say the least).

Biraz iğrenç, ama T onu seviyor.
