I found this book to be quite long and dragging in various parts. I liked all of the characters and their plot lines but felt it could be tighter.

It has taken me months to gear up to reading anything by Lilith Saintcrow. Not sure why. I am a bit of a blurb lover. If the blurb doesn't get me then I probably won't buy it and these blurbs weren't doin' anything for me. And then there is the trouble I have with starting a new series, I do have to feed my children sporadically and that isn't conducive with my manic reading style. Now that I have read one and liked it damn it I have to buy the whole set because I want to find out how things end up for the characters. Brava Ms. Saintcrow You sucked me in and I liked it!

cloudies. <-- aka: devoted followers of henry cloud. i don't know why i didn't like it. if there was a negative star, i would have rated it that. maybe even several negative stars, but that's just mean. sorry, cloudies. not only is the writing overly simplistic but the counsel actually... sucks. it felt as if i went into a counseling session for a much needed therapy session and left a bit disappointed as thoughts of wasted time and money agitated my drive back home. speaking of... exactly how much time did i waste actually reading it? anyway, this book reminded me of good will hunting, specifically, matt damon's character, when he shot down the subsequent subpar, egotistical, "are-you-kiddin-me" psychologists prior to meeting mr. maguire. yeah, i'm lumping this book in the first category. pretty harsh, huh? don't get me wrong, i'm usually not so mean. it's just that so many, esp. evangelical christians have bought into the cloudie mentality. and, to be honest, i see dangers ahead. oh well... what's a girl to do.

i thought this book was really cute. which sounds like i didnt love it and i didnt. i just liked it a bunch. it was sad and short and good and quick to read. but i guess im always hoping for a bigger bang when things end.

Time to start at the beginning :) ...and glad I did! Incredibly strong start to the series with such a cliffhanger ending that I'm now waiting for the second book to arrive, instead of reading out of order. What exactly is Joe going to talk about??? I have to know before moving on!
