I really enjoyed this story!! I love things all "medieval", and this was a great read for me! I've never read anything about Alienor/Eleanor of Aquitaine, but by reading this book, I've become intrigued by her story & have begun searching online to find out more about her. She was a strong & determined woman, especially given the time she lived in, and I was amazed to learn that she was able to keep all of her lands both through her marriage & after her divorce. As much as I LOVE historical fiction, I had no idea what her connection to the English throne was. It was very interesting to learn that one of her son's was Richard the Lionheart! I enjoyed this so much that I can see myself reading it again!! My rating would be 4.5 stars!!

First real book I ever read. I think it was about 3rd or 4th grad and I cried.

A great writer. As far as content, I much prefer his previous two books: Blink and The Tipping Point.

Wow - I loved this book. It was totally engrossing - sad and sweet at the same time. Every time I picked up the book I felt I was transported back to Centralia and Madeleine's world - and that's not easy to do with a chattering two-year old running around. I found myself racing to finish it to find out what happened, but now I'm very sad that it's over.

You can't go wrong with a Cat and Bones book. I enjoyed this one a tad less than the first 4 books, and I think it's because there wasn't the abudance of "jealousy" scenes that the prior books have. Huh, I didn't realize I got off on that sort of thing. At any rate, any book by Ms. Frost is highly entertaining. She's a superb talent!

Not having read any of Perrault's fairytales before, I didn't quite realise what I was in for... And people say that Grimm's fairytales are gruesome - huh, think again and read Perrault's! There's an ogre appearing in about almost every single one of the eight tales in this edition, and, of course, they love eating fresh flesh (i.e. little people) and do so without delay. Yet in a strange way, I found these tales delightful and just so different to the Grimm's; in fact, they made me laugh out loud a few times - perhaps mostly because things took me by surprise, like the ending for "The Fairies": Nowhere could the wretched girl find anyone who would take her in, and at last she lay down in the forest and died". End of story. Each tale has a moral at the end, some even have two. There are some real nice gems among them, like the "Another moral" at the end of Blue Beard: You can tell this tale is old By the very way it's told. Those were days of derring-do; Man was lord, and master too. Then the husband ruled as king. Now it's quite a different thing; Be his beard what hue it may - Madam has a word to say! And this being written in 1697!

I've been meaning to read Bill Bryson for a long time now (especially "The Lost Continent"); he's from my home state, he's a fairly prolific travel writer so one would think he must have something of worth to share, and I've heard nothing but promising things from friends. Four chapters in and I find myself torn between wanting to go out and hike the AT to experience it for myself and wanting to never again go camping without the safety of a motor home and tens of my closest comrades. This is one of the more reality-check-based travel accounts I've read of just about anywhere, which is a welcome change from the often overly-romanticized narratives that tend to grace the shelves of most travel sections. It's thought-provoking, humorous, an easy yet engaging read, and well worth the time invested (which is considerably less than the time invested in the path from cover to cover).
